Comparing is the thief of happiness.
Short story:
A while back a friend visited San Francisco and saw a couple with headphones on actively talking to each other; then as they came up to someone "needing help" they stopped talking and pretended to listen to their music, then went back to talking.
He came home convinced people were wearing headphones constantly in public spaces so they can pretend to (or legitimately) not hear strangers asking them for their attention.
Meanwhile, tourists like him were constantly stopping to be polite and in the end feeling like suckers for having tried to be helpful.
He vowed to bring headphones with him on every metropolitan vacation afterwards.
When you feel the breeze, you realize you've created something meaningful today.
If there is no habitual thought, what is learned in a moment will not enter the heart; therefore, learning without thinking leads to confusion, and thinking without learning leads to peril.
To be sociable, is to seek profit. When someone says that you are not sociable, it’s because they haven’t benefited from you, and you choose not to be sociable with them because doing so doesn’t bring you any profit. 🧊🤝🧠💸

A few words of encouragement:

Life is a journey of cultivation.
I have always maintained my enthusiasm, like a child, for all kinds of things. I am the same.
In the end, I found that I don’t need to master a certain skill, nor do I need to improve on a certain skill. I just enjoy the enthusiasm for learning and practicing, and the love for things, even if each one is only three minutes, but there are countless three minutes, every stage, every age, and even every month has three minutes for each stage. When they are connected, they are our colorful life.

A database is not only about disk size and query performance. Database reflects the company's culture, processes, workflows, collaboration etc. It has an entire ecosystem around it - master data, business processes, transactions, distributed applications, regulatory requirements, resiliency, Ops, reports, tooling etc,
The role of a database is not just to deliver query performance. It needs to fit into the ecosystem, serve the overall role on multiple facets, deliver on a wide range of expectations - tech and non-tech.
While the useful dataset itself may not outpace the hardware advancements, the ecosystem complexity will definitely outpace any hardware or AI advancements. Overall adaptation to the ecosystem will dictate the database choice, not query performance. Technologies will not operate in isolation.

As I’m getting older, I realize that I haven’t achieved anything significant. I feel like I might be just useless. I’ve had all sorts of jobs and encountered many people, but did not find any of them outstanding. When I see others, they either have successful carers or are willing to endure hardships and take any job. I have neither the ability to achieve career success nor can I bear hardships to do those low jobs. Therefore, I feel that my life is twisted.
At the end of the day, I don’t want to endure hardships nor do I have any ambitions. I just want to be an ordinary person for the rest of my life. Why is this so difficult? -The real reason is that someone is already enjoying life on my behalf, I just don’t know it.
