🎶 How to Transcribe or Translate Audio Files with Buzz
What is Buzz?
Buzz is a free, open-source desktop app that transcribes and translates audio files on your computer. It uses OpenAI's Whisper models to convert speech to text with impressive accuracy. Best of all, it has a simple graphical interface (GUI) that anyone can use.
Getting Started
Installation
- Go to the Buzz GitHub page: github.com/chidiwilliams/buzz
- Download the version for your operating system (Windows, Mac, or Linux)
- Install it like any other application
That's it. Just download and install.
Using Buzz
Transcribing Audio
- Open Buzz
- Click "Open Audio File" and select your audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, etc.)
- Choose your transcription language
- Click "Transcribe"
Buzz will process the file and show you the text. For a 30-minute file, this takes about 3 minutes on most computers.
Translating Audio
- Open Buzz
- Click "Open Audio File" and select your audio file
- Choose "Translate" instead of "Transcribe"
- Select the source and target languages
- Click "Translate"
Buzz will translate the audio content directly into your chosen language.
